Mark Ross, a Tucson native, has been involved with the congregation from the start, having participated in the initial discussions to form the congregation. He was also responsible for arranging the purchase of the present location of the congregation through his family connections. Throughout the years he has contributed in numerous ways including serving on several committees, fundraising events and as an officer and director of the board. Mark served as President of the congregation from 2011-2013.
Mark graduated from the University of Arizona with a business degree, and has been in the mortgage business for over 40 years. He has been an officer and director on national trade associations, earned the highest designations in the industry, and has been selected to represent the industry in state legislative activities.
One of Mark’s passions is music. He plays clarinet with the Chai Lights, Or Chadash’s Friday Night Live klezmer band, as well as at High Holy Days services. He also plays with Klezmerkaba, a community klezmer group, Desert Aires, a clarinet choir, and the University of Arizona Alumni Band, and recently took up the banjo. Mark is also a 3rd degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.
He has been married to Bari since 1983 and they have raised three sons. Traveling has become a passion for them and they plan trips to locations around the world whenever they can.
