Elaine Jones, President

Dr. Elaine Jones has been a member of Or Chadash for about 10 years, and has become more active in synagogue affairs since her 2014 retirement from the University Of Arizona College Of Nursing. Her clinical specialty was in maternal-newborn nursing and her research focused on health education with Deaf adults, in sign language. She has served as chair of the Social Action Committee; she is a member of Sisterhood, sings in the choir, serves on the Board of Directors and represents Or Chadash at Pima County Interfaith Council. In addition, she volunteers as a Master Gardener at the University Of Arizona Extension Garden Center, teaches part-time at Pima Community College in Psychology, gets out for blues/country swing dancing often and is planning her second sprint (read “short”) triathlon in September. She has two sons, two daughter-in-laws, two daughters and four grand-children. None of them live in Tucson and so she often travels to visit them wherever they happen to be living. Additional travel over the last few years included Australia, Spain and the Galapagos Islands. She says life is very, very good and she feels very blessed to be part of the Or Chadash family.
