Message from our President………
Shalom and Welcome to Congregation Or Chadash,
At 20 years old, Or Chadash (New Light) is one of the fastest growing reform synagogues in Southern Arizona. We have developed into an established, respected, vibrant, and successful congregation of 400 families. We also have a strong religious school of almost 100 children, a very active Sisterhood, Brotherhood and Chavurah, as well as social programming, adult education, and other activities that, well, make Or Chadash your home. We are blessed with an outstanding Rabbi and a wonderful, full time Cantor. Beyond our own walls, Or Chadash is prominently active in the community life of greater Tucson.
Religiously, we are an affiliated Reform (URJ) congregation but are welcoming to all. In fact, many of our most active members come from backgrounds of other Jewish affiliations and interfaith marriages. Our services are offered each Friday evening and Saturday morning, and, of course, special services on all appropriate Jewish holidays. We are particularly proud of our B’nei Mitzvah program (both youth and adult).
We also encourage our members to be involved. We have many activities and committees ranging from Tikkun Olam (repair the world), which provides helping hands to the local community, to assisting in our religious school, to planning and running social and/or fund-raising events, to guiding us religiously through Ritual committee, and a myriad of other opportunities in which to be actively involved.
Geographically, we are more than just the Tucson Foothills; we also encompass the surrounding communities. We have a membership that resides from the northwest (Oro Valley), the south (Green Valley) and the east and west sides. Our campus is centrally located making Or Chadash easy to access from all over the Old Pueblo.
Please join us and you too will find Or Chadash “A Warm and Welcoming Reform Jewish Community” and a very special place for you and your family.
If you do have questions, please contact the Rabbi, Cantor, a staff member, or me. I am looking forward to meeting you and seeing you at services and various activities.
Immediate Past President
