The board met via Zoom in March due to COVID-19 precautions. The board first reviewed the newly negotiated contracts for the Rabbi and the Cantor, and approved them in executive session. We received reports on the effects of COVID on our community and the measures being taken to mitigate the spread while continuing to serve our congregants in various ways. The proposed 2020-2021 budget was discussed. The Finance Committee projects a shortfall of $82,000 next year, and the board discussed the sources of that deficit and possible ways to remedy them. The budget was approved as presented.

The Board also authorized the President and the Treasurer to access our Line of Credit to cover budgeted or otherwise authorized expenses for the rest of the fiscal year. This was requested due to concerns about cash flow, which have been increased by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A final report was given by the Ambassadors who have acted as liaison between Or Chadash and Emanu-El, including a recommendation for a consultant to guide our communities further in the process. The board accepted the ambassador’s recommendation the we hire Rabbi David Wolfman as our consultant and authorized the required funds to pay him.
