We are excited to inform you that for the very first time our Congregation has invited a 2nd year rabbinical student to join our community this year. Julia Berg will be joining us for the High Holy Days and thereafter, flying from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion once a month to lead services, teach adult education and participate in our Religious School.
Julia Berg is a second year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in Los Angeles. She is originally from Los Angeles and spent her undergraduate career at the University of Michigan, where she studied environmental science and Judaic studies. She worked as a cohort coordinator for the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center on campus, facilitating conversations on consent and bystander intervention tactics across campus. She has spent three summers working at URJ Six Points Sci-Tech Academy East, where she is now the Director of Jewish Life. Sci-Tech was where she discovered her passion for creating meaningful Judaism for people wherever they might be in their Jewish journey. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing soccer, running, baking, and doing pottery.
