IMPORTANTANT: Due to judging time requirements each category is limited to the first 20 entries. Each entry form must be completed in full, accompanied by entry fee ($5.00) and typed recipe. Or Chadash reserves the right to publish the winning recipes. All other recipes will remain private.
1. Entry forms can be obtained by clicking here or calling the receptionist at Or Chadash office 512-8500
2. An entry fee and printed recipe must accompany each completed entry form
3. All forms, fees and recipes (entry packet) are to be mailed or delivered to Or Chadash.
4. The complete entry must be at Or Chadash no later than November 6th (note: date extended) in order to qualify
5. Entry packets received after November 6th will be disqualified and returned to sender
1. All
food entries to be brought to
a. Foods may not be frozen when brought to judging area. (they may be chilled if served cold)
b. Foods entries do not need to be Kosher
2. Bring Food to Initial check in table to be registered 15 -30 minutes prior to judging time (below). Failure to deliver food within designated time frame will be disqualifying
a. You will be given a white plastic presentation plate labeled, by Or Chadash (OC) volunteer, with a unique ID on its edge
b. Move to preparation table to ready your presentation to the judges
i. Separate into 4 small tasting portions on the plate
ii. No special condiments or garnishes are allowed, except as stipulated
iii. Microwaves will be available for foods that require heating on site. Or Chadash volunteer (OC volunteer) will heat food just prior to judging according to your instructions
iv. Chilled foods will be kept in our coolers by OC volunteer until just prior to

b. Chopped Liver (traditional or vegetarian)
i. Portion size: Four 2 - 3 high and wide scoops
ii. Lettuce bed garnish is allowed
c. Fish Salad (white fish, chopped herring, tuna)
i. Portion size: Four 2 - 3 high and wide scoops
ii. Lettuce bed garnish is allowed
d. Kugel
i. Portion size: four square pieces 2"-2"
e. Mandelbread
i. Portion size: eight pieces
f. Rugelah
i. Portion size: Eight pieces
g. Sephardic Dish (hot or cold)
i. Portion size: Enough for four judges to taste
h. Vegetarian Wild Card
i. Portion size: Enough for four judges to taste
i. Knishes (potato, meat or other)
i. Portion size: 4 whole pieces
j. Blintzes (may be all cheese, or with fruit)
i. Portion size: 4 whole pieces
k. Brisket
i. Portion size: 4 slice 1-2 oz per slice
ii. May be with or without gravy
iii. Will be reheated on on-site microwave
